Election for 2010 TX-OK Kiwanis Governor-elect

As you may know, Governor-elect candidate Rick White has withdrawn his name as a candidate.

Nominations for the position of Governor-elect for the Kiwanis administrative year 2010-2011 are open to any Kiwanian in the Texas-Oklahoma District in good standing.

Kiwanis members wishing to file in order to appear on the ballot at the convention must do so not later than Wednesday, July 28th 2010.

Members desiring to become a candidate must submit the following documents to the district office (See Policy 17.1 at http://www.txok-kiwanis.org. Click on Policies, By-laws, and Board Minutes on the left-hand side of the page.)

1. A letter of intent to run indicating a willingness to serve, attend all the training required by the Texas-Oklahoma District and Kiwanis International, and undergo a background check by Kiwanis International;

2. A letter of support from the candidate’s home club in support;

3. A letter of endorsement from the candidate’s Division Council;

4. A letter from the current Lt. Governor outlining the candidate’s qualifications and biographical data;

5. Full name and preferred e-mail address (a Criminal Background Investigation is required by Kiwanis International);

6. A 500 word (maximum) statement of qualifications and candidacy and a black and white head-shot photo (jpeg) for distribution via e-mail to clubs. (Optional)

In coordination with Past Governor Nancy and Elections Committee Chair Darrel Booth, the following rules will apply to Governor-elect candidate speeches at the Delegate Session at the upcoming District Convention:

 

Nominating Speech:  2 minutes

Seconding Speech:  1 minute

Candidate Address:  3 minutes
