TX-OK Governor 2009-2010
My Vision for Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis:
- Insure that the Texas-Oklahoma District of Kiwanis remains the premier district in Kiwanis International
- Build a solid foundation to enable the T-O District to recruit and retain its portion of the 1 million members by 2015
- Study and develop a means to reduce the cost of being a Kiwanian
- Support, encourage and reward local clubs for developing projects meaningful to their communities
- Encourage clubs to actively participate in district events and programs
- Encourage clubs to actively participate in International events and programs
- Encourage clubs to establish Sponsored Leadership Programs such as AKTION Clubs, K-Kids clubs, Builders clubs, Key Clubs and CKI clubs.
- Publicize Kiwanis – Take Credit.
My Kiwanis Experience:
- 21 year member of Kiwanis (12 in Kansas and 9 years in TX-OK)
- Distinguished President (Twice in Kansas and Twice in TX-OK)
- Distinguished Secretary – Bandera County Kiwanis Club
- Distinguished Lt. Governor (Once in Kansas and Once in TX-OK)
- Tablet of Honor Kansas
- George F. Hixson Fellow – Diamond Level 1
- Member of TX-OK Legacy Society
- Member of KI Heritage Society
- James W. Putnam Award – Kansas District Foundation
- C. T. Bush Award – TX-OK Foundation
- Life Member – Kiwanis International and TX-OK District
- Started the Bandera, TX High School Key Club
- Trainer for TX-OK Kiwanis Volunteers for Salvation Army/Kiwanis Disaster Relief Programs
- Participated in Kiwanis Disaster Relief for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005 and Villahermosa Mexico Flood Victims – 2007; and Hurricane Ike 2008

- Retired contract Administrator for The Boeing Company – 15 years
- Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) Degree in Personnel Management –University of Oklahoma plus Masters Degree in Public Administration - Auburn
- Married to Ann Gay Bishop 49 years – Ann is the Retired Executive Director of the Silver Sage Corral Senior Activity Center, Bandera, Texas
- Two Children – Angel Lyn and William Hart
- Five Grandchildren – James, Lori, Codi, Jade and Cora
