Governor Elect 2017-2018
2017 – 2018 Governor Elect Ralph Keen
Ralph has been a member of the Stilwell Kiwanis Club for 18 years. He is a two-term past club president and has served as club treasurer for the past eight years. Ralph began his District service in 2008 as Lt. Governor of Division 31, earning distinguished status. In 2015, Ralph was elected as the first Region 8 “Northern Outpost” Trustee in the freshman class of the newly-adopted regional trustee system. During his two years on the District Board Ralph worked closely with the district leadership team to balance the budget while also serving on the Long Range Planning Committee, the Laws, Regulations and Policies Review Committee, and becoming a certified Kiwanis Trainer.
Ralph has been married to his wife and fellow Kiwanian, Teresa, for 35 years. They have two children, Desiree, 34, and Matthew, 32. The Keens make their home in Stilwell, Oklahoma where she is a certified teacher and he has been a practicing attorney for over twenty-one years. His legal practice has afforded him a wide variety of experiences, including becoming an adjunct professor, a published writer, and a symposium and CLE presenter.
In addition to his Kiwanis service, Ralph has also served his local community as Chief of the Stilwell Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Management Director for the City of Stilwell, past president of the Stilwell area Chamber of Commerce, and past chairman of the Adair County Firefighter’s Sales Tax Board. Ralph has also served the Cherokee Nation as a member of the Tribal Council, an administrative law judge, a member of the Tribal delegation that secured the first-of-its kind Hunting and Fishing Licensing Compact with the State of Oklahoma in 2015, and by chairing the seven-member commission that reformed the 1975 Cherokee Nation Constitution.
During his year of leadership, Ralph’s focus will be on growing and strengthening our District; including opening new clubs, strengthening and nourishing existing clubs, and building a strong regiment of lieutenant governors to continue growing the Texas/Oklahoma District from “Good to Great,” because now more than ever, Kids Need Kiwanis!
