Mid-Year Leadership Summit and CKI DCON

This past weekend we held a leadership summit in conjunction with the Texas-Oklahoma District of Circle K International convention. We had many opportunities to work with these inspiring college students.

Some highlights were our luncheon panel discussion on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the Kiwanis family and a service project to assemble birthday cake baking kits for local food pantries. The luncheon was also a great opportunity to match students with Kiwanians based on majors and professions to create networking opportunities.

We had a number of sessions with our board of trustees and lieutenant governors to discuss what’s working well in Kiwanis Clubs in our district, learn how we can be better servant leaders, and hear firsthand from our student leaders how they have been impacted by our service leadership programs.

Our partners from the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation also awarded over $14,000 in scholarships to the CKI members after a whole morning of interviews on Saturday!

On Sunday we held our board of trustees meeting to discuss the remaining year ahead and beyond.

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ada Train

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ada in Oklahoma have a wonderful program that feeds the imaginations of children and adults alike. A real live train that runs in the local park. The Kiwanis club originally built and now maintains the train for over 60 years. They are in the process of rebuilding the tracks and train during the “down” months so that it will be ready to roll again in the Spring.
