Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th, 2022

The Texas Oklahoma District supports our Veterans and remembers those men and women in uniform that didn’t come home. Because of them, we have a freedom unmatched by any country in the world. We owe a debt of gratitude that can only be repaid if we exercise our freedoms and honor those that fought to give us these measures.

Welcome to Texas Mr. President!

Peter Mancuso has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of East Meadow for 35 years. He is a past president of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund, which was then known as the Kiwanis International Foundation. He served as distinguished governor of the New York District in the 2003-04 administrative year and distinguished lieutenant governor from 1996-97. Peter is also a past distinguished president of his club. He has been honored as Kiwanian of the Year by his club and division. Peter has chaired numerous clubs, district and international committees on outreach, growth, finance and leadership, among others.

The Texas Oklahoma District is looking forward to hosting our International President during the district convention in August 2022. We hope you can be there too!

Mid-Year Leadership Summit and CKI DCON

This past weekend we held a leadership summit in conjunction with the Texas-Oklahoma District of Circle K International convention. We had many opportunities to work with these inspiring college students.

Some highlights were our luncheon panel discussion on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the Kiwanis family and a service project to assemble birthday cake baking kits for local food pantries. The luncheon was also a great opportunity to match students with Kiwanians based on majors and professions to create networking opportunities.

We had a number of sessions with our board of trustees and lieutenant governors to discuss what’s working well in Kiwanis Clubs in our district, learn how we can be better servant leaders, and hear firsthand from our student leaders how they have been impacted by our service leadership programs.

Our partners from the Texas-Oklahoma Kiwanis Foundation also awarded over $14,000 in scholarships to the CKI members after a whole morning of interviews on Saturday!

On Sunday we held our board of trustees meeting to discuss the remaining year ahead and beyond.
